Sooooo - remember that wild, crazy emotional moment when our girl Kate Winslet, 6 time Oscar nominee, finally took home the big prize this year for her role in… erm… The Mummy 3 was it? No - that was Rachel Weisz in those movies right?… though I think even she bailed for the last one… and they weren’t exactly “Oscar” kind of films were they… so what was it Kate won for? ‘Cause actually I don’t remember the moment she won - because I was sound asleep at the time. Oh yeah, the Baz Luhrmann created Hugh Jackman/Beyonce/ Cast Of A Thousand Ponces 70’s variety show fiasco musical tribute did me in for that bloody show. Annnnyyywaaayyysss, I think she won for playing a Nazi — with the added bonus that she was a child molester too wasn’t it? “The Reader”… a film seen by dozens. A brave girl our Kate. Even braver in that having won the prize - how did she choose to celebrate — by “I’m going to Disneyland” like any sensible person? Nooooo - she went to Russia. Russia, land of vodka, beets, mafia, innumerable unaccounted for nuclear warheads and spirit crushing c-o-l-d. Why did she do this people - why? Well, I’ll tell you why - so we could have an absolutely devastatingly gorgeous view of her lush lips, big, beautiful dewey eyes and flawless alabaster skin. That’s why. All for fashion magazine Russian Elle’s April (I’m totally guessing here as my knowledge of the Cyrillic alphabet is limited to…uh…nothing whatsoever) edition.
